About the project

When Roshen Confectionery Corporation relocated part of its manufacturing operations from a historic factory in central Kyiv, the move presented an opportunity to transform the once purely industrial area into a vibrant public hub. The project aimed to achieve two primary goals: creating a diverse and accessible destination for the public while converting the formerly barren factory premises into a landscaped business space.

Visitors can engage with the site through a plaza featuring a splash fountain, video-mapped facade, and ambient sound, offering a transformative experience as they descend from the bustling intersection above. On the opposite side, a serene green amphitheater transforms into an ice rink during winter months, connected to the plaza by a series of planted alleys with shaded seating.

For employees at the Corporation’s head office within the former factory building at the site's heart, the journey through the public realm leads to a secluded staff garden with outdoor seating.

The project showcases cutting-edge solutions in landscaping, fountain design, and ice rink architecture in a way that is elegant and seemingly effortless. The gardens remain green and in bloom from early spring through autumn, with mature trees lending a sense of permanence to the plaza's ambiance.

Our approach

Public and cultural projects often involve a wide range of stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and needs. These stakeholders may include government agencies, community organizations, cultural institutions, and members of the public. Leveraging our network of industry connections, we collaborate with experts to help us identify project requirements and incorporate best practices tailored to the specific project at hand. This collaborative approach ensures that the needs and perspectives of all stakeholders are considered and addressed throughout the project lifecycle, resulting in outcomes that are both culturally sensitive and community-focused.

Our process begins with thorough initial research into the project site's background and the challenges it presents. We pay special attention to exploring the site's history, its context within the surrounding area, and future usage scenarios, which may evolve as the project integrates into the public realm.

As the project's various components come into focus, we assemble a multidisciplinary team to ensure each component receives the necessary expertise and attention. Recognizing the heightened public interest often associated with such projects, we prioritize transparency and cost-effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle.
